2021 ADR Conference

Welcome.

We can’t wait to put on a great conference!

My name is Don Schapira, Q.Med, PM, CDS, and I am the Executive Director of the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society.

Wait-a-minute…did that guy just say Alberta???

I did….and just for now – allow me to explain.

AAMS has a very rich history in the province of Alberta and is the precursor to the well known Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada’s (ADRIC) provincial affiliate, ADRIA – That’s a lot of letters…trust me I know. Presently, the mandate that AAMS aspires to be the advocacy group for all things ADR in Canada. We support the growth, education and proper regulation of ADR frameworks across our nation.

We are a charitable organization, not a member organization. Our hope is to educate and support your goals – whether your are an organization, not-for-profit, practitioner or even someone simply interested in knowing all of these different acronyms.

We want our national aspirations ito be reflecgted in our name so visit us at www.aamsca.com to learn more about us, toss in a name suggestion and learn more about the amazing event we have planned for you this October!

Professional Development Day

Wednesday October 20, 2021

We will be working with our Premier Partners to host a multi-stream ADR Conference that will provide ADR Practitioners great lessons, pertinent information and CE credits, where applicable.

From panels, workshops, speakers, and more – our goal is to host a truly National conference with current and importnat takeaways.

To be (in person) or not to be (in person)

At this point in time we are planning for a virtual conference. We found the format that works, and presents speakers, vendors, and attendees while still allowing for networking opportunities and registered viewership.

But…things are rapidly changing. We are finding ways to work with our premier partners to have provincial gatherings and viewership parties depending on health regulations. More information as guidelines evolve!

Conflict Resolution Day

Thursday October 21, 2021

Open to the public

The Conflict Resolution Day Alberta Committee is a collaboration between the Alberta Government’s Dispute Resolution Network and, as of this year, ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) organizations from all over Canada.

We provide resources and support to the public, ADR professionals and organizations across Canada to host events and activities to celebrate Conflict Resolution Day every October.

Our Committee has been promoting Conflict Resolution Day since 2007.

History

Conflict Resolution Day was started in 2005 by the Association for Conflict Resolution in the United States to raise public awareness of creative and peaceful means of resolving conflict.
